As explained in the previous post I shall be doing a few little posts on the places I visited on my Scottish road trip in June. One of the places we visited was the Cairngorms. It was here that we stayed at The Lazy Duck, I feel like a should do a whole separate post on the place that we stayed because it was honestly one of the loveliest places I have ever had the pleasure of staying!
So The Lazy Duck consists of camping, hostel accommodation and three little eco-huts dotted about the site and woodland near Nethy Bridge in the Cairngorms. We stayed in the Woodmans Hut, this was the most secluded and the furthest into the woods. The hut was so perfect we didn't want to leave and had our next stop not have been Skye I don't think we would have found it as easy to leave.
The staff and facilities there are awesome, you can hire out a hot tub and you can even buy duck eggs from the ducks that roam the site!
The hut was decorated perfectly, with the balance just right between cosy and having everything you need, one of the quirks of staying here is cooling your drinks in the little stream just 40 seconds from the hut! Every morning we would run down to the stream to get our milk and orange juice we had popped in the evening before!
So like before I thought I would give a brief list of some of the things we got up whilst in the Cairngorms...
1. Went for a swim in the little green loch (An Lochan Uaine). It was freezing but so bloody fun, people took photographs of us and watched us like we were total weirdos!
2. Visited Britain's only wild Reindeer herd. It was incredible, we even got to feed them, they are the loveliest of animals.
3. Went for a walk up Meall a' Bhuachaille, it was a tough climb but o' so worth it! We even passed a cute little bothy which was nice!
In my next post I will talk about what I got up to in the Trossachs.
As usual, stay tuned. x
